Flour Tortillas

Especially good with carnitas. Can make them big for quesadillas or small or tacos.

Ingredients

  • 2 C flour
  • 1 t salt
  • 1/2 t baking powder
  • 1/4 lard (can also use rendered bacon fat, or vegetable shortening)
  • 2/3 C warm water

Directions

  1. Mix dry ingredeints.
  2. Cut in lard and rub into dry ingredients using your fingertips.
  3. Add in warm water and work into a smooth dough on a floured surface.
  4. Divide dough into pieces and let rest until plastic wrap for 20 min.
  5. Roll thin and cook on a dry skillet on medium heat.
  6. Should get nice colored dots after 30-60 seconds on each side.
  7. Put between a slightly damp dish towel to keep warm and soft.
