Mint Julep
1 oz simple syrup
2 oz bourbon
8-10 mint leaves
Crushed ice
To a short glass add 8-10 fresh mint leaves. Add 1 oz of simple syrup.
GENTLY bruise the mint leaves in the syrup. Not enough to break or cut any of the leaves. They release plenty of flavor with little bruising.
Add some crush ice.
Add 2 oz of bourbon
Top off with ice and stir.
Serve!
Simple syrup is 1:1 water to sugar. i.e. 1 cup of sugar dissolved in 1 cup of water.
