Jeci’s Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • Cake
    • 2 C sugar
    • 2 C flour
    • 1/2 C butter
    • 1/2 C vegetable oil
    • 1 C water
    • 1/4 C cocoa powder
    • 1 t baking soda
    • 1/2 C buttermilk
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 t salt
    • 1 t cinnamon
    • 1 t vanilla
  • Frosting
    • 1/2 C butter
    • 1/4 C cocoa powder
    • 1/4 C milk
    • 4 C confectioners sugar
    • 1 t vanilla

Directions

Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 375
  2. Sift sugar and flour together.
  3. In a sauce pan melt the butter, oil, water and cocoa.
  4. Dissolve the baking soda in buttermilk, add the eggs, salt, cinnamon and vanilla.
  5. Combine all wet and dry ingredients. Pour into a 9×13 pan, and bake for 20 minutes.

Frosting

  1. Combine butter, cocoa and milk in a saucepan and bring to a low boil.
  2. Remove from the heat and add confectioners sugar and vanilla.
